Exploring the Impact of the Pandemic on Personal Hair Trends
HMMM… WELL…
AS you might see from my profile picture my hair is straight: BUT that was 1 year ago: I am currently 16 years old and my hairstyle had a major change:
YA know that moment where you just feel like you have to make a change so you just pick up a scissor and chop your hair off NO just me hmm. well I had one of those moments... and to be honest it turned out amazing: I cut my hair every month now since I have bangs: and I turned my hair into the wolf cut style: which I absolutely LOVE!
Here I’ll show you some pictures:
Adventures in Home Hairdressing
When the pandemic hit I was planning to get swathes of my hair dyed fire red which was definitely going to require professional care. I also was due for my monthly twisting of my locs to get down to the scalp is difficult.
My locs have grown at least three inches. I look like the hyena that Whoopi Goldberg portrayed in the original The Lion King and I share the same Loctician: unruly. So now I pull my hair back into two French braids and I wait impatiently for the vaccine. I’m an RN and I’m therefore in the first group of people who will be vaccinated when the studies indicate safety and one of the first things on my list is to get my long overdue pampering back on schedule when the salons reopen.
Other Perspectives
Revealing Changes in Personal Style
Not much. I’m retired on pension. I just stay home more and work on my garden more. It did impact my overseas travel plans.
Adapting to Life at Home
I don’t think the pandemic has affected my style so much as revealed it. My focus has been privately on becoming more resourceful and publicly more useful but neither of those is really any different. At best it’s gained intensity.
Return to California
My hope is that things will open up and I can return to California. I don’t really drive here in England whereas that is not a problem in the USA. So I hope I can find a way back. My son is there but it will be harder to get documents to return the longer I leave it.
