Is Bakugou Considered Ugly or Attractive in the My Hero Academia Universe?
The perception of Bakugou's appearance is a topic of significant debate among fans of My Hero Academia (MHA). Some characters and even fans themselves have commented on his looks in various ways. But ultimately, beauty is subjective, and Bakugou's character design emphasizes a blend of toughness and charm.
The Creator's Perspective
While some characters may have negative comments about Bakugou due to his aggressive personality or expressions, others recognize his attractiveness as his character develops. According to the creator, Kohei Horikoshi, Bakugou has been described as an ikemen. Ikemen are typically characterized as sharply dressed individuals with slanted intelligent eyes, husky voices, slender wrists and fingers, a manly build, an unruffled appearance, pale skin, and clean smelling, often with an air of mystery.
Perception and Zeal
The intensity of fans' opinions about Bakugou's appearance reflects the character's significance in the MHA universe. Bakugou is one of my favorites; he ain’t ugly. People who say he is are a bunch of haters. Horikoshi thought his prototype was too nice, so he changed him up a bit to make him badass. I even made my hair look just like his.
In fact, in the class A, there are five handsome guys according to a character named Camie: Todoroki, Kirishima, Iida, Kaminari, and Bakugou. Camie even praised Bakugou's looks with a conditional statement, his looks are great if he keeps his mouth shut. This further emphasizes that Bakugou has an undeniable attractiveness.
Supporting Evidence
Additionally, Bakugou's mother is described as a stunning model, and her physical resemblance to Bakugou suggests that he has the same striking appearance. The prominence of his lower lip in the character design might be a way to draw attention to him, highlighting his good looks.
Personal Observations
It is also suggested that Bakugou's exaggerated expressions may be exaggerated on purpose to draw attention away from his good looks. His waist-to-hip ratio, often compared to the crispy chips known as Doritos, emphasizes his muscular and athletic build, which many fans find appealing.
Besides his physical appearance, Bakugou's character development and actions within the MHA universe also contribute to his attractiveness. His determination, strength, and pursuit of his dreams make him more than just a good-looking character.
To summarize, while there are varied opinions about Bakugou's looks, his character design and creator's perspective certainly support the view that he is an attractive character. Beauty is subjective, but MHA and its creator offer ample evidence to suggest that Bakugou's appearance is a significant and appealing aspect of the series.
