Judging People: Appearance vs. Values

Should We Judge Others by Their Appearance or by the Values They Possess?

You might have read somewhere that 'BEAUTY LIES IN THE EYES OF BEHOLDER.' While this phrase is often considered cliché, it rings true in many contexts. Never judge someone based on their appearance. The values a person possesses say far more about their character than their outward appearance.

Appearance vs. Values

Beauty can be in the eye of the beholder, but more importantly, a person's values can truly reflect their character. I have seen many individuals with breathtaking looks but lacking in value. Conversely, I have also observed those with average appearances yet exhibiting remarkable values and positive vibes.

There is a true story of a girl who was an introvert, slightly overweight, and had small, sad eyes. Her classmates regularly bullied her, leading her to consider leaving school. She skipped classes for weeks as she did not want to continue going there. However, despite the adversity, she remained a fighter. Her values, to forgive but not forget, truly highlighted her strength. When someone treats her poorly yet she acts mature and lets it go, she wins the battle. To me, she is one of the most beautiful and strongest women I know.

Personal Choices vs. Inherited Values

How people dress and look is a personal choice and should not be a basis for judgment. Everyone has different likes and tastes, and it is important to respect these. Moral values are something we inherit and acquire as we grow up, shaping our personalities and destinies. Some individuals may indeed be exactly what they present to the world, while others are perfect examples of the proverbial 'devil in disguise.'

Changing one's appearance and presenting oneself differently can be relatively easy, but changing moral values and gaining knowledge is almost impossible. Embrace who you are and be happy. Do not judge others. Live and let live.

Personal Reflection: The Beauty in Values

I must say that Judy, one of my idols, is an amazingly beautiful woman. However, her appearance is just one aspect of her. I love you, Judy, with your dark, beautiful hair. That remark is strictly about your appearance. It is a personal note and should be taken in that context. I hope we can connect. Have a wonderful day, and kiss the girls!
